Vote for gauges

Vote with your veYB, the NFT that you get when you lock YB, to set how much YB emission each gauge receives. A gauge is the staking contract of one market. It pays YB emissions to the holders who stake yb-LP in it.

Prerequisites​

Check that you have each of these:

  • An active veYB lock, from Lock YB for veYB. If your lock has ended, a vote reverts with Expired.
  • ETH for gas.

Steps​

  1. Go to yieldbasis.com.

  2. Open the Vote page.

  3. Select Vote.

  4. Allocate your voting power across gauges. The total must be 100% or less.

    10-day cooldown per gauge

    If you voted on a gauge in the last 10 days (864,000 seconds), you cannot change that gauge's weight yet. A second vote on it reverts with Cannot vote so often. In that window, you can still change your votes on other gauges.

  5. Submit the vote.

  6. Sign the transaction.

Result​

Your vote takes effect immediately, with no epoch delay. It stays until you change it. The staking ratio of each gauge then scales your vote, so a gauge with few stakers routes fewer emissions. Check your allocation at intervals, for these reasons:

  • Lock decay. A term lock has an unlock date. Its weight falls as the lock nears its end and reaches zero when it ends. To restore it, extend the lock or lock again, and then vote again. Permalock weight does not decay.
  • New gauges. New gauges are not in your allocation.
  • Killed gauges. Killed gauges keep your weight. To move it, follow Move weight off a killed gauge.

Move weight off a killed gauge​

When the YB DAO winds down a market, it can kill the market's gauge. Deprecated markets have a Deprecated badge in Analytics. A killed gauge keeps your existing vote and still receives emissions, which go to a market that is closing. You cannot add weight to it: a vote above zero reverts with Killed.

To move your weight to a live gauge, follow these steps:

  1. If you voted on that gauge in the last 10 days, wait until the cooldown ends.
  2. On the Vote page, set the weight of that gauge to 0. The contract accepts a weight of 0 on a killed gauge.
  3. Allocate the released power to a live gauge.
